This private car photo tour of Rome started from the stunning Hotel Boscolo found in Piazza della Repubblica. Reaching the Roman Colosseum as the first location. Where we had a privileged sweeping view of the colossal monument from a nearby side hill. Some interesting pics came out when we photographed in the grass out of the urban context. With nothing more than the Coliseum and wild grass the image seems of a very long time ago! We then drove around the monument in order to reach the other side of it where we stopped to view and photograph Arch of Constantine.
The photo tour continued to the Roman Forum viewed again from above ground where we had a chance to see it in all its sweeping beauty. Then we walked over to Piazza del Campidoglio admiring the central equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius.
Our next stops were the Roman Pantheon and Fontana di Trevi. We were able to get some stunning imagery at the Pantheon with light shining in through the ceiling hole above. As well as some nice images by the baroque fountain out in front.
We couldn’t skip viewing the beauty of the Trevi fountain even though it was still under repair. So we drove by real quick to snap a quick photo when throwing a coin inside.
We left one of the most majestic locations to view last. Saint Peter’s Cathedral in the Vatican city. A great way to end this car tour of Rome.

The other Churches in Rome

Then we were off to visit and photograph the other Churches and Basilica in Rome. Starting with Saint Paul outside the walls [San Pietro Fuori le Mura]. A must see Church location with all its majestic beauty standing on its own in the roman suburbs. Just outside the main city center on the Ostiense road. We stopped by the Holy door here as well to get a quick snapshot and then proceeded inside. Such a spectacular site. Especially when there aren’t many visitors around which allow you to truly get a sense of the grand dimensions.
Then we drove back to the city center to visit Santa Maria Maggiore. A most embellished Basilica which had us awe as we walked around it inside. As our time was coming to an end we decided to skip the last Basilica and replaced it with the Convento dei Cappuccini with a very singular crypt with rooms made entirely of the friars’ bones through the ages. Certain to give you some mixed emotions as you visit! [pictures were not allowed in the crypt].

Parco Villa Borghese

Then we moved over to take pictures in the park with the trees on the sides and all the fallen leaves on the ground. Including some full figure images as well as some close up portrait shots. The area here has so much to offer in terms of interesting photography settings. Just a few steps away there is a singular view of Saint Peter’s square in the distance which really frames in nicely.

There are so many scenic spots to stop over to take some nice family photographs of the panoramic view over the roman skyline. So we hopped around here a little bit stopping from time to time to capture different photo glimpses of the city. Both for group pictures as well as for individual portrait shots. With one breathtaking view after another.

Piazza di Spagna and Via Margutta

The Spanish steps are a fantastic location for unique pictures with a truly roman atmosphere. Especially if the portraits can be framed in a way as to avoid including too many visitors in the frames. Yet trying to retaining that characteristic Italian feeling for the location. Once we reached the bottom of the steps we ran into a famous Italian actor: Christian De Sica. Which was so nice to pose with a us for a few family pictures. Via Margutta was our last stop before ending our photo shoot in Rome.
